The first draft of anything is garbage

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

"The first draft of anything is garbage"

This is a quote I came along many years ago and it stuck with me deeply.

While growing up it is natural for us that we learn through trial. More often than not learning a new skill such as walking, speaking or reading, require us many, many weeks, months or even years of practice to become solid.

Yet as adults, many of us are holding the believe that whatever we start need to be perfect right away.

You might or might not yet realize how much this belief is limiting you in your work and private live.

In fact, more often than not, being scared of own failures and being imperfect is the main reason why we do NOT EVEN START.

* But why are we so hard to our adult self?

* Why do we believe our first attempt must already be perfect?

* Why don't we give us the time and space to learn?

🌟 Imagine what would be possible for you, if you give yourself time and space to try, to make mistakes, to assess, to adjust, to re-try and to get better with every small step taken. 🌟

Where could you be in one year from now, if you'd allow yourself to go through this process instead of being frozen by fear.

So let me ask you:

* why do you still hold on to this limiting believe?

* what does it cost you, to do what you'd love to do but did not yet do because a fear deep inside of you held you back?

* what is the worst thing that could happen if you did it anyway?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and shares in the comments.
