Thriving in all aspects of life and embracing Mental Health is a foundational element for happyness.

In todays modern world we have all we need to be healthy, happy and successful.

Yet, more and more people do not FEEL happy and successfull. Instead they feel heavy, sad and like a failure.

But what is actually meant by the buzzwords Mental Health and Mental Wellness?

​

Mental health refers to a state of well-being in which an individual can cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively, and contribute to their community. It encompasses emotional, psychological, and social well-being and influences how we think, feel, and act. It drives our emotional regulation and how resilient we are.

​

Let me tell you a secret: it's todays modern world that leads you to feel stressed constantly. And the effects to our body is serious.

Our bodies still function the same way they did hundreds and thousands of years ago, when we humans still had to fear the night for various reasons and fight the Bears in the forests or the Tigers while providing for our loved ones.

​

In the long run, you might not even realize anymore, when you are feeling stressed. Because you habituated it into your body.

​

​What is essential for a healthy Mind?

 

  • Relax our bodies daily through breathing excercises. Multiple times a day. Even if it is 1' only

  • Sufficient sleep and a healthy sleeping pattern

  • Practice Gratitude (e.g. through the practice of journaling)

  • Take long-enough time-out's after intense periods

  • Implement healthy habits

  • Taking care of your gut-health

What most people don't know: our brain has a direct connection to our gut. This makes our gut a key element when it comes to Mental Health.

​

Did you know, that both the gut and the brain are jointly releasing chemicals to our body?

 

Based on your nutrition intake and your thoughts, your brain and your gut jointly release chemicals to your body. They are the driver for your Mental Health.

It's no secret that I am a huger believer of a healthy lifestyle being a pre-requisite for a healthy mind.

 

Our gut is one of our biggest and most important organ.

Did you know that the gut is also known as the "second brain" and why it is called like that?

​

It's not only because some of us tend to make decisions by "gut feeling" but it's also scientifically proofen, that there is a direct gut-brain connection, which influences our lives daily and massively.

​

Researches are not yet completed but scientists already proofed that the gut-health is influencing our mood, the level of anxiety and much more.

​

 

What is essential for a healthy gut?

 

  • (moderate) sport, ideally in nature

  • Sufficient sleep and a healthy sleeping pattern

  • Low as possible stress level and longer relaxation periods after intense times

  • Fresh, biological food and home made meals (i.e. low sugar, low grade of pre-processing)

  • Limiting Alcohol intake

​

Yet, I came to the conclusion that even if we only consume fresh, home made meals with the best ingredients,  today's food is not (anymore) containing all the key elements our gut is in need of. In other words, I do believe we have to support our gut (and metal health) with natural nutrition supplements; in addition to the points mentioned in above listing.

 

Over the past two decades, I have tried all kind of (natural) supplements.

 

Some I liked, others I didn't and regardless most of them didn't really help me feel more balanced or get less infections (both of which are my main motivation to add them to my diet).

​
